Mary Agnes Twomey is a licensed and Board Certified Acupuncturist. She has more than
25 years’ experience as a health care professional, being both an Acupuncturist and a
Registered Nurse. She is certified in Toyohari Meridian Therapy, and has completed post
graduate training in Japan with the world’s foremost Toyohari experts.

Toyohari is an ancient Japanese acupuncture therapy rooted in the classical 5 Element tradition.
For most of these techniques, the Acupuncturist places a thin needle over the treatment area
and does not insert the needle into the skin. The techniques are more gentle than other forms
of traditional acupuncture.

Mary Agnes has a family health practice treating all ages, with extensive experience in treating
patients with eating disorders. She has sub-specialties in treating people with joint pains,
headaches, and women’s health problems.

She also holds a Masters degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Her professional training and experiences
enable her to see and treat a person’s symptoms as expressions of the life and constitution of her
patient. She uses them as sign posts to vibrant health and well being. She offers her patients a
foundation of sacred trust, genuine support, and heartfelt caring.

She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from St. Louis University, her Master’s
Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from University of Maryland, and her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture
from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, Columbia, Maryland. She continues to study and practice
with renowned teachers of Oriental Medicine both in the United States and in Japan.
